I recently did a webinar for the University of California Irvine Division of Continuing Education on foundational principles of visual design for Instructional designers. I review basic principles that anyone interested in enhancing their graphic design skills should be aware of. These basic principles can be applied to slides, posters, handouts, and guides. I’ll explain my process and apply these principles one at a time to several examples that show how to apply them and how to think like a graphic artist.
I’ll also share some tips and tricks I use to increase efficiency and make your job easier.
You can also download the PowerPoint used in the video at the link below.
I hope you don’t mind me reaching out, but I was hoping to seek some guidance. While I’ve made significant progress independently on my startup non-profit project, I feel the need for direction on how to proceed further.
Specifically, I’m looking for advice on how to effectively bring my project to life and, more importantly, how to assemble a competent development team. This team would need to be willing to contribute their skills and time to a project that is currently at a standstill until we secure funding.
The project itself aims to develop a training platform hosting free and accessible online training provided by third-party institutions. Do you have any suggestions or ideas on how to navigate this challenge?
I really don’t have a lot of input regarding asking people to volunteer their time for free to help in your project. Regarding bringing your courses to life, keep your audience in mind and ask yourself what methods would work for them. Bring a course to life, isn’t just about visuals, but how it’s presented. Does it speak to them or is it just presenting a bunch of facts?
